In the project we are going to exchange, discuss, present national customs and traditions all the year round. We would
like to find out whether there are certain customs which make our countries different but closer.
Subjects:
Foreign Languages, History of Culture, Language and Literature
Languages: EN
Pupil’s age: 9 – 12
Tools to be used:
Chat, e-mail, Other software (Powerpoint, video, pictures and drawings), Project Diary, Twinspace, Video conference
Aims:
The aim of this project is to widen our pupils’ knowledge concerning culture of various countries. To show our students
how other countries celebrate their national holidays and what customs are connected with them.
Work process:
The project will last for the whole school year so as to embrace all the most important holidays of our countries. We will
focus on exchanging presentations on national holidays, festivals, special days and charity events that take place in our
countries. The presentations will be prepared by pupils themselves but revised by the teachers. We are going to plan the
work according to the calendar of national holidays, created by each of the partners. The calendar will indicate the
frequency of mutual exchanges. Students will have the opportunity to communicate with their peers through video
conferences, postcards and emails exchange.
Expected results:
The final product of our work is going to be a presentation answering the question stated in the title. We want students
themselves to find the differences and similarities among cultures. We want them to understand how the knowledge of our
cultural differences makes us closer to one another. We hope our students will improve their language skills, make new
friends and most of all become open to cultural differences.
